Plant

Alrar is situated in the southeast of Algeria, where important natural gas and oil fields owned by Sonatrach are located: the new station built by the Consortium Bonatti SpA/Carlo Gavazzi Impianti SpA serves the important gas treatment centre erected in this area.

Discovered by Sonatrach in 1980, Alrar is located in south-western Algeria along the Libyan border north of Zarzaitine. Its recoverable reserves are officially estimated at 132 BCM of wet gas. The gas processing and recycling plant at the field came on stream in 1985. It has three identical and independent production lines and processing facilities for about 18.5 MCM/day. It can produce 17.75 MCM/day of dry gas, 3,654 tons/day of condensate and 2,212 tons/day of LPG.

SCOPE OF WORK

The scope of work includes the EPC of a new power generation plant, complete with three power generator units and the corresponding auxiliaries.

Each unit is designed for an electrical output of 20MW (Alrar conditions), in order to increase the existing production of electrical power to meet demand in the regions of Stah, Ohanet, In Amenas (Zarzaitine) and all facilities in Alrar.

PROJECT PECULIARITIES

The new plant implies the installation of:

  • 3 power generation units, each containing an electrical generator with a gas turbine driver
  • 1 control building, with an underground cable room, ground floor and first floor (about 1030 - - square metres per floor)
  • 2 Gas Turbine buildings (about 1230 square metres each)
  • electrical substation
  • 3 transformers, each 11,5/66 kV 35 MVA
  • 2 transformers, each 11.5/0,38 kV 1.25 MVA
  • 2 emergency diesel generators, each 0.38 kV 1.25 MVA
  • medium voltage panels
  • power and control panels (DCS, ESD,SCADA System, UCP, MCC)
